Being in Cordon !

For a fast bowler, getting his victim courtesy beating the batsman and the stumps uprooted is just one of the best views, but when the bowler bowls just outside off stump, a little swing, batsman beaten, a thick edge to the eagles waiting in the cordon - Now thats a wonderful scalp!

Rahul Dravid, the World Record holder, was the cordon leader for his Bucket Big Hands for India. When watching several matches, we decide when there is a drop catch, "Rubbish, this fellow has to be dropped!". If the cricketer is in the middle 30s', we decide he has to retire from the game !! Wow ! this is how we back the players who represents trilions of us!

Frankly, it is not just as easy as it looks standing beside the wicket keeper looking for THAT edge off the bat. The hand-eye coordination should be so very quick that the ball reaches you in a snap of a time - Like That ! Its a fact that some one who is assigned a task of standing in slips is not to drop catches, coz he is there just to hang on to those that comes, but shouldn't there be a little soft corner towards him :). The best and most suitable way of holding on to these quickies is to expect an edge every ball when in the slips.

The most easiest approach - watch the bowler release the ball, look at the bat the next moment - there is an edge - then gulp it into your bucket palm ! Sounds easy eh? ;)

Try this out in your free time - take a leather ball and a suitable bat accompanying a friend. Ask him to help you taking catches in front of the bat coming off the edge! You will feel the fun ! :)

Never a special view you get to see a catch to the slips... Getting the wicket uprooted comes next. ;)

I just love to be part of the cordon, I dont like having soft corner and I hate dropping catches !

Happy Birthday Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and Our Own Dr. Rajkumar! :)

Cheers !

5th Season in the Globe

If there are 4 seasons around the globe, there is one extra in the sub-continent. A season that is not published in any of the school Geography books - The season of IPL. Thanks to the then Chairman and founder - Lalit Modi.

After the begin of controversial ICL, a beauty thought came in the mind of an entrepreneur to put money on something called IPL which actually is the Indian Cricketing version of UK's EPL.

Mixed thoughts on the tournament in the beginning, but wait a minute. WHATA START DID THIS GET ! In the year 2008, there were lot of new stuffs introduced in the Cricket History of India. Fastest version of the game. A great pick up especially after Young Indian boys crowned the Champions of the World.

Beginning the Prestigious Tournament with 8 Teams owned by various Franchisies - the biggest Business Tycoons of India. Each team had to BUY players ! Buy how? BID for them during the auctions held way before the start of the tournament. Face / Icon of the teams were decided by the franchise owner. There were coaches for various departments appointed. I, obviously being a Bangalorean support the Red Devils - RCB ! ;)

And here we are, 5 years after the birth of the Indian Premiere League. Rajasthan Royals winning the inaugural tournament, the under dogs Deccan Chargers in the 2nd Season, heart breaking for the RCBians ending up being runners and then CSK winning the title in back to back seasons, 9 Teams, 4 Teams Qualifying for the Champions League and finally 1 Champion Team!

Happy Summer and Happy IPL Season!

Cheerz!
RCBian! :)

Done with a short break !

Been a long time blogging... Well, back with a new avatar... Long weekend, thanks to the political leaders :).. Super Saturday with a hectic trek and lovely match between Germany-Argentina... The Young German boys thrashing royally the (A)rgentine Men ! :) Felt bad for the Africans who ended up in the losing side in the other Quarters.

Sunday, time for some cricketing action! Played after a long time... Last appearance, achieved a wonderful milestone against a corporate team.. my first genuine 5-For in a game... 4-2-15-5! Continued the same momentum yesterday too!

Though the weekend was tiring - after effects of Trekking, had a wonderful time... 7:30 on a saturday morning, Bangalore's stupendous weather... started off the day with my favorite song from Singam! Scorpio, friends, breeze, song and weather... a great feeling it was. Reached the place after travelling for about 2 hours. After Lord Narasimhar's Darshanam (an Udhbhava Murthy), it was the beginning of the pulls and cramps. Savanadurga, a single rock for trekking, took almost 2 hours to reach the peak - the statue of Basavanna. The winds were so strong, it could even pull me off the ground for a second! WOO! Well, after few minutes of joy, we climbed down the hill, photo sessions, eatings etc etc etc... A good time but bad aches.. nevertheless enjoyed.. There is a saying, "To get some, you gotta give some"... :)

Cheers!

Cabana bola aana aana...

After a tiring week and a dull practice session for me on the Sunny Saturday. To have a chilled out Sunday, we made plans to do something really interesting and freshning - Time to Say Go Cabana ! 28th Mar 201, the day of BBMP elections, most important than the outing ;). 10 big time sport crazy guys started off for the adventure after completing the right of being the citizen of the Country.

It was 10:15 when we started, delayed by an hour :) picking up guys on the way and thanks to New Airport Road traffic which made us reach the place at 11:10.

The first thing which each of us was a breakfast and the last thing we want to know was that the "Breakfast is closed". God! We got pooris' finally with handful of saagoo. Had our favorite coffees and teas and left for the starter - adventing ;)

I had great plans of playing cricket there, but later decided to play all other games available but for cricket ! :D We started with Tennis, which was the most fascinating and the highlight of the day ! :)

5 Teams - Fixture being - Round Robin - Each team face every other team once... Best 2 teams would challenge each other for the championship. Rules followed - Normal Doubles Rules and following the Badminton Pattern of scoring.

It was great fun! Sunil, the most targetted was hit with the tennis ball four times - unknowingly though ! ;) The under-dogs reaching the finals and the team with university level player being eliminated... Tinku Brothers losing without troubling minds to decide on the top 4 in the points table. Gaurav with wonder serves and Karthik with fabulous way of winning net-points. Ajit and Sunil being the most hilarious team among the 5 and finally Ajay and I, LoL ! Ajay was praying to not have me and him sharing the same side of the court, but the destine was different. :)

We reached the finals losing 1 game against the deadly combo of Gaurav and Karthik off the 4 in the league. We had to face them again in the finals. The script was changed, we had the momentum, leading them 6-0, but the tables were turned when Ajay lost his serve. We had a bad run of serves and recieves again... ending up in the losing side... we lost 9-11 against them. Even after losing, I guess Ajay now would be happy to share the court with me :).

Well that was the story of the likes of Paes and Bhupati combo who won the Runners. 'twas 2:30 at the end of play and we had to run for lunch and then had plans for a game of Bowling. Luck turned out the other way, we had to wait till 5:30 in the evening for our turn, so we decided to go splash into the Water World! Slides, Lazy River, Tubes, Wave Pool and Back massages... Aww !! it was stupendous! At about 5:30 we called off from the water and headed to have drinks break... Hi-Tea! Water Massage and Tea / Coffee, the feel was different and were relieved. Got ready for the bowling! Another big time losing game for me... I was challenged to score a hundered there at least and later learnt that it was only 5 games a person. Final decision the final score would be doubled. I had to score a 50 and I am known to score quickly. (You may look into my previous posts to know more). And I scored 63 off the 5 with 1 point behind the leader Suneeth. It was fun though :)

We thought of calling off for the day, but woo woo ... there was more to come... How could we leave without having our hand on the bat and ball... It was the time for CRICKET! 5 of were in Red Ts' and decided to play Reds against others. For a change, I captained my side ;) ... Thanks to AJ! :) I lost the toss and we were put to field under the dimming lights. 5 Overs a side. Out after being caught with one hand - 1 pitch from the bat - a special rule. Was set a target of 22 from 5 overs. We got a great start from the Gopura Baay Ajit but faded as the lights faded. We lost by 3 runs at the end. An experience of being a captain of a team after a long time... Was made to talk post match.

Ajay: "How are you feeling after your first loss?"
Sudu: "I thought it was only one team that played with the Spirit and it us" ;)
Ajay: "Right helu magane!"

LoL ! ;) and at this note... From the Presentation Area, this is Sudarshan saying See ya! Have fun and more to come ;)

Giggling ??

5 Blogs in Feb at once and just 1 in March ! God I am going back to my norms ! Well I am back here ..

This time sharing my experience while travelling back home from office with all darkend night with the glow of the moon and shining stars over the head and cab mates around. It was around 10:15 in the night travelling on the great road of Electronic City thinking about something that was never existing and suddenly something flashed my mind and I went back to the past. Full flashback story. It will always be that FLASHBACK stuff that makes you GIGGLE and you have no care about who is around and that happened to me then...

Despite having Alumni Meet every year and other meets amongst the pals every now and then, that does not and cannot fill in the classroom funny things done. I just loved one incident that happened to me when in class and sharing it here.

It was when I was in the 4th Sem that was when we had our last touch on the favorites of most - Mathematics. :) Post lunch session Math class.. Full Love for sleep. We had the privilege to have one of the best lecturers for a part Math. This is how it usually works in the study system and esp. Engineering. Several Parts of a subject and each part will be handled by a staff. So, we had our lecturer giving notes for every single topic that we had in the part. I honestly dont remember what part she was handling in that period. Well, as we were taking down the notes, there was one point which really seemed to be interesting to me happened to be told. She [Lecturer] usually have the beat marring habit round the class while dictating and was having her rounds then too. She said "where n=10" kind of statement and apparently meant 'n' and not 'N'. Dictating continues... "Small n = 10 .... " .. The next moment, instead of continuing with the notes, I felt something felt on my head, that actually was a wake up call sounding like "Wake up Sud! Wake Up!" that was a bang on head by my lecturer with the book she had ... God ! that was our Math text book! :| I was wondering why that happened to ME ! :P I was said to be the most quitest guy in class after our Venku mama! I then realised, it was not because I of my talkings and walkings in class, but I had written "Small n = 10". "Post lunch effect" :)

LoL! Those were the days ! :) Seriously never mind giggling for such incidents... Have Fun !

Cheers!

100 in Bowling Eludes Me.. hmm... Do I elude a 100 rather ? :)

Last weekend I spent was quite amazing, time pass you can say. Had been out for lunch on Saturday, watch some movies on TV, played cricket on my comp and suddenly I get a call from my friend screaming loud, "Leave now.. We are going out!". At 8:30 in the evening! :| .. Well, I got ready, dropped my mom back home from granma's place and left. We had plan for bowling at the brand new Amoeba raised at Jayanagar.

I first started bowling frequently at Leela - I scored a 91. You know how it is, friends around scoring 100s' within no time, and I finish the table with 91 is quite a chance for me getting squashed all around! :D Next chance for me to score was at Planet X, Mysore ! I was so consistent, I scored another 90 ! It was a train of 90s' from then! The visit to the alley is reduced by a huge rate. A day eventually occurred when we just changed plans going to Amoeba Churchstreet instead due to non-availibilty of alleys at Leela. The plan change, changed the destiny of the scores ;). We had a double round session and I finally scored hundreds in each game. We had AjitH who scored the highest of 153, almost twice, but missed out in the second with silly plays ;). He became the highest scorer in our group breaking Suneeth's record of 149.

Another day at Leela, another 90 for me. believe it or not, I scored 99! It was a time of fight for the top spot - The title of Championship, all between Ajit and Suneeth. Ajit had to retain the top spot or beat his own score, but Suneeth, was known for his aggression, he score 157! Top scorer again! After the fun, the talk of town was not about the top score, but the player of the day was ME - 99 ! I was like, "Gosh! not again!" :) Pradeep, known for his comeback... he scores 30s' in the first 5 games... and reaches 100 in the last 5! GOD ! How is this possible dude!!

I would have been to bowling for around 15 times now, and have scored 13 90s' till date and just the 2 odds.!! The picture says it all! 97 (27th Feb 2010)! We finally got a new champ, breaking 157. Chandru topped the table with 166 breaking Suneeth's record. He deserved to score this. He rocked the evening!

Chalo, waiting for Suneeth to get back home. March 12th he is here! btw.. Happy Birthday Maga! The fight for the Championship begins again! :) Till then .. See ya !

Cheers!
Record holder of most 90s' scored! ;) \m/
